Safe Surrender:

Under the Safe Surrender State Law, all Apple Valley Fire Protection District fire stations are designated Safe Havens.  Under this law, a mother may surrender her baby (up to 3 days old) confidentially, without fear of arrest or prosecution for abandonment.

 How long do I have to surrender a baby?
You can surrender a baby up to three days after birth.

Where do I go to surrender a baby?
Go to a hospital or fire station with the Safe Surrender logo and give the baby to any staff member.

What happens when I surrender a baby?
Staff will give you and the baby matching ID braclets to help you reconnect with the baby if you change your mind.

How long do I have to change my mind?
You only have 14 days from the date you gave up the baby to regain custody.
