Apple Valley Fire Protection District

Commitment to Service Excellence.

Fireworks

In Apple Valley, all types of fireworks, including those classified as “safe and sane,” are illegal. This strict regulation is in place to protect our community from the significant risks that fireworks pose, including fire hazards, personal injuries, and property damage.

New Contactless Citation Process for 2024

This year, Apple Valley is introducing a contactless citation process to enforce these regulations more effectively. According to Apple Valley Fire Protection District Ordinance 56, Administrative citations will be issued as follows:

  1. Personally – An officer or authorized individual will deliver the citation directly to the responsible person.
  2. By Mail – Citations will be sent via both first-class mail and certified mail to the responsible person as identified on the County Tax Assessor’s Roll. This ensures that the homeowner, not a renter, receives the citation.

Why Fireworks are Dangerous

The prohibition of fireworks is a crucial measure to ensure the safety and well-being of all Apple Valley residents. Here are some key reasons why avoiding fireworks is safer:

Fire Hazards: Fireworks can easily ignite fires, especially in dry areas like Apple Valley. These fires can quickly spread, endangering homes, wildlife, and natural landscapes.

Injuries: Each year, fireworks cause numerous injuries, some severe, requiring emergency medical attention. Burns, eye injuries, and other traumas are common and can have long-lasting impacts.

Noise Pollution: Fireworks can cause significant noise, disturbing the peace and affecting pets, veterans, and those with sensory sensitivities.

Environmental Impact: The debris and chemicals from fireworks can harm the environment, polluting the air and leaving hazardous waste.
