Burning with a permit is still allowed in the Town of Apple Valley city limits on a day-by-day basis. You must call each morning to find out if it is a “burn day”.
Burn permits are required to burn specific items on your property (see list below). Burn permits are $15.00 and are valid for one year from the date of purchase.
Burn permits are available for purchase online, however, permits purchased online will only be issued during normal business hours, Monday through Friday, 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM (excluding holidays).
Burn permits may also be purchased in person at the Headquarters Fire Station, 22400 Headquarters Drive, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. (excluding holidays).
You will need to call the Dispatch Center at 1-800-472-2376 or 909-356-3805 on the day you plan to burn PRIOR to burning to ascertain if it is a burn day. Burn days are determined by AQMD and can be suspended due to high smog levels, high fire danger, or high winds. If it is an authorized burn day, you may burn from 6:00 am to 12:00 noon only.
A burn permit authorizes you to burn your yard vegetation, such as:
Weeds/Tumbleweeds
Grasses
Leaves
Pine needles
Small tree trimmings – tree trimmings can be no larger than 2” in diameter.
You may NOT burn processed wood in any form (lumber, building/construction debris, cardboard, paper) or household garbage.
