Possession of any type of fireworks, including “safe and sane” fireworks are illegal within the town limits of Apple Valley, as well the unincorporated areas of Apple Valley.
With this year’s increased fire danger, the Apple Valley Fire Protection District wants to remind its citizens about the dangers of using fireworks. Each 4th of July, thousands of people, most often children and teens, are injured while using consumer fireworks. Despite the dangers of fireworks, few people understand the associated risks – devastating burns, other injuries, fires, and even death.
Statistics from the National Fire Protection Association show that on a typical 4th of July, fireworks cause more fires in the United States than all others causes combined.
Residents found using or in possession of fireworks, including the “safe and sane” type, can be subject to a citation which can include a fine. In the event a fire is caused by the use of fireworks the responsible party(s) will be subject to criminal charges as well as be held liable for damages.
Join your friends and neighbors at the Freedom Festival at Brewster Park on July 4th and leave the fireworks to the professionals.
